How much do you pay your babysitter or nanny? In 2013 UrbanSitter surveyed and compiled data from nearly 6,000 families across the US to calculate the average hourly rates for babysitting and nannying by city.
- San Francisco tops the list with an average babysitting rate of $14 per hour for one child, $16.75/hr for two children, and $19.25/hr for three children. For more reasonable rates, head to Denver, where the average pay starts at $10.25 per hour for one child.
- How much do parents pay the nanny? Across the nation, nannies earn up to two more dollars an hour than babysitters. The national average for nanny pay is $13.50/hour for one child, $15.50 for two children, and $17.25 for three children.
- Bringing back date night. A third of parents surveyed said they hire a babysitter 1-2 times a month for a date night, and an additional 32% said they go out at least 4-6 times a year.
