Chances are, you’ve done the standard kid’s birthday party one too many times. This year, why not break away from the tried-and-true route, and go for something a little different?

Take a look at five of our favorite Pins for some kids birthday party inspiration.

Firefighter Party – Boy’s Birthday Party Idea

Win big points with little ones, especially if you can talk your local fire station into sending a truck over for a quick hello. Most stations will agree to a stop-by to let the kids check out the truck and meet the firefighters, as long as you realize all plans are off if they receive a call to duty.

Berry Strawberry Party – Girl’s Birthday Party Idea

This cute theme is perfect if your daughter is into Strawberry Shortcake, but you aren’t so into the cartoon character decorations. Berry Strawberry Birthday gives you just enough of a theme to guide your decorations, treat bags, and cake without going overboard on the kitsch. It’s really pretty adorable.

This is a cute birthday party idea for either a girl or boy – maybe a boy/girl set of twins. The tutorial provided by this blogger gives the theme a modern twist so it’s pretty darn cool, and just right for either a little one who is crazy about school buses or a bigger kid who digs the school theme.

What’s a party without balloons?

Why settle for a bunch of helium balloons from your grocery store’s floral department when you can have these? We super dig the groovy black and white striped ones pinned by HGTV’s Emily Henderson. You can order them at the Oriental Trading Company.  Another route for a cool balloon bouquet is the DIY idea of filling clear balloons with tiny confetti. It couldn’t be easier to do – click here for instructions. While you’re there, check out this brilliant blogger’s ideas and photos for inspiration. She created an entire party around candy sprinkles!
